Comedy: Take 2 and Rock for Choice

Last Friday Coreena and I went to another comedy show at the Black Horse. Dan and Kim also joined us. There was a lot more people there this time around, but there was also a LOT more table talk. That was really unfortunate. Having performed in front of people before, I know how frustrating it can be when people don't have enough respect to pay attention to you. As for the quality of the show, I thought the headliner last time was funnier. This time I had a smile for almost all of it, but he never had me constantly laughing-out-loud. It was still a pretty good time. Afterwards, Dan, Kim, Coreena, Phil, and I played a couple games of Tripoly. That was fun.

On Sunday Coreena and I went to the Rock for Choice show at Rascal's. I knew several of the performers: Elsa (used to work at the Blue Heron with Erin) played piano and sang beautifully, French Is (Jen and Garrett) are always enjoyable to watch, STYB put on a good show, and an acquaintance, Justin, played in a new band that was better than I was expecting. All in all, it was a good show (despite listening to some PhD lady talk for what seemed like an hour about the history of abortions or something).

This weekend I'm going to a wedding with Coreena. Hopefully it will be a good time. Later

Team America and Wine Tasting

I was going to tell you about my weekend, but for some reason I just don't want to. Not that it was a bad weekend. Just the opposite, in fact. I just don't feel like saying much about it, is all. I will offer up this, however... I saw the movie "Team America: World Police" and laughed quite a bit. It is amazing how graphic they can get with puppets. I swear they covered all major positions with their extended sex scene. Crazy thing is, I heard the censors made them cut part of that scene (but it will be on the "uncut" DVD version). All in all, it was pretty humorous and had some funny songs in it as well.

I wanted to mention one other thing... The Winona Humane Society is putting on a Wine and Beer Tasting and Silent Auction fundraiser on Nov. 17th at the Quality Inn from 6pm - 8:30pm. Apparently it is a lot of fun and raises a lot of money for the Humane Society. I'm definitely going and all of you should too. For more info and to buy tickets, visit the Humane Society at 1112 East Broadway, Winona, MN * (507) 452-3135.

The Weekend in Review

Let's see here. I suppose I'll just recap the weekend quick for you. Friday night Coreena was in town for a job interview so we hung out Friday night. We made Chow Mein Hot Dish for supper. It actually turned out really good. I got the recipe from my mom. We also had a good laugh (at Bush, not with him) watching the debates. A couple highlights: when Bush almost attacked Charles Gibson, and Bush's idiotic "Need some wood?" remark (read more about the timber company remarks here). On Sat, Coreena and I dropped my piece of crap car (which is for sale if you're interested) off at my parent's farm. We chatted with the folks and rode 4-wheeler a little bit. We then came back to Winona and watched Wayne's World. Good stuff. Sunday, Coreena and I just hung out all day. We walked around downtown, went to the Penguin Zesto for ice cream, and best of all, stopped at the Polish Museum for Polish Apple Day or some such rubbish. The place was packed with geriatrics with nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon. I can't wait till I'm old and senile and look forward to nothing more than hanging out at unknown little festivals. Also, I'll constantly yell at the young whippersnappers and shoot them the ol' stink eye as I sit rocking for hours in my rocking chair on the porch. Being old must be stupendous.

A couple political links... worth a look, methinks

Yet another excellent weekend

This past weekend was fantastic. I took Friday off from work and hung out with Coreena. We went shopping, watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and she cooked for me (delicious bbq ribs). It was a great day (especially since I beat her in both checkers and scrabble). I spent all of Saturday afternoon "fixing" my sister's computer. It was acting funny for her so I just wiped it clean and put Win XP on for her. It took longer than I was expecting, but she has a cute little kitty that kept me company (both Sarah and her boyfriend were gone). I hung out with Coreena again on Sunday. We watched the Packers lose and I let her beat me in checkers. ;) It was another great day. It is nice having someone to do "nothing" with on the weekends. I have a feeling this coming weekend will be a good one, too. I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to go play guitar now. Later.
