Xmas at Gma's

This past weekend was my first Xmas of the year, Xmas at Gma's, as I like to call it. For this Christmas gathering, all the guys bring a $5 guy gift and all the girls bring a $5 dollar girl gift. We then pick a gift from the pile or steal an already opened gift from someone else. I ended up with an extension cord and a box of mints. Coreena ended up with a potpouri thingy-ma-bob. We also played Jeopardy (the $5 gift my uncle Mike got) as well as Cranium. We had a good time. It was a good warmup for the hardcore celebrating that will be taking place this weekend. :) Coreena and I also exchanged gifts this weekend. I think we both were happy with our gifts. I got a sweatshirt and a quilt (hand-made by Coreena, I should add). Coreena got a Edgar Allan Poe book, smoothing oil, a Word-A-Day calendar, and a cheese cutting board.

As a quick note, just cause I'm thinking about it right now, I'll mention that I'm working a couple extra nights at the humane society this week and the next. Things have been going well at the society, except last night my alergies seemed really bad while I was there. Don't know what was up with that. There are a lot of cats that need a good home.

One last thing, I'm gonna post a couple pics to Photogasmic.

Alias and Xmas

Well, I'm gonna keep this post real short and sweet. I've been watching the first 3 seasons of Alias pretty hardcore lately. Season 4 starts Jan 5, and I am just finishing season 2. That means I've got 3 weeks to watch all of season 3. Needless to say, that is where most of my time is being spent. The show is quite good, though. I suggest you all go watch it, but start from the beginning for sure.

This weekend my Xmas's begin. We are going up to my G'ma's. It should be a good time. I can't believe Xmas is here already. I'm excited. It is my favorite time of year. So if I don't get around to it next week... Merry Christmas all.

Canada just keeps getting better

As if there weren't already enough reasons to move to Canada, they went and added another... Canada Court: Same-Sex Unions OK

I'm glad to see that our good neighbours to the north aren't as full of discrimination and hate as the US seems to be. I can only hope that we will follow their lead. Excuse my rant, but I just can't understand how people can be against gay marriage and have a clean conscience. I should clarify before going any farther that I am talking about legal marriage only. I can see being against gay marriage in a religious sense, but that should be completely separate from legal marriage (unless we are abondoning the separation of church and state). With that said, what really baffles me is that a large percentage of blacks are against gay marriage. I would think that if anyone could sympathize with the gays, it would be other people who face discrimination. And I'm quite puzzled how gay marriage has any affect what-so-ever on anyone but the couple getting married and their loved ones. And as far as gay marriage "jeopardizing" the institution of marriage, well that's just preposterous. By allowing gays to marry, we will be encouraging life-long commitments, monogamy, and two-parent families.

Alright, I'm done with my rant. But one last thing, if any of you reading this are against gay marriage, I would really like to hear your reasons for having that position because I can't come up with any. But only comment if you are going to keep it civilized (i.e. no personal attacks).

Gotta love the holiday spirit

I went X-mas shopping this weekend. I hate shopping during the Christmas season. The roads are packed with crazies driving like maniacs. The parking lots are filled to the brim. The shoppers are stressed and rude (I especially love the parents who yell at their children for no reason). And the cashiers are tired and annoyed. Luckily I got most of my shopping done.
After shopping some, Coreena and I also made time to catch the flick Garden State and to walk through the Rotary Lights. Garden State was quirky and different and very good. Independent films are usually the most interesting ones to watch, I think. Garden State, Eternal Sunshine, and Rushmore (a few of my favorite) prove this. The Rotary Lights didn't seem as impressive as the last time I saw them. Then again, I don't really remember the last time, so I could just be inflating my memories of it. They had very good displays... it just didn't seem like they had as many. Anyways, I'll post a really small crappy picture of my favorite display on Photogasmic.
